Now that I’ve decided to get treatment, how do I choose a therapist?

It is important that you establish a comfortable rapport with your therapist. Doing so will assist you in feeling safe to disclose your feelings. You can do this by listening to your gut feelings.

Do I feel understood and respected?

Do I understand the therapists approach and is it a fit for me?

Do I understand what a typical session might be like?

Do I know what my therapist’s qualifications and years of experience are?

Do I know the fees and cancellation policy?

Who do I contact if I am in crisis?
